October started quietly, with a continuation of the prolonged dry spell and sunny days which we saw for much of September. This made fishing challenging, and only the odd fish being caught, although it has to be said that fishing effort for part of the month was relatively light again . However, more unsettled weather brought river levels (and fish) up, and the last full week saw a good number caught both by our Luxembourg members and rental syndicate rods, including fish of 21lb and 17lb. Most if not all of these fish are now coloured and were safely returned to the river.
With the forecast for more rain, hopefully the total can be added to in the final few days of the season. It is already a considerably better year for catches, partly due to the wetter summer but also more fish in the river. The final totals will be updated after the season.
