After a spell of lower water and warmer weather in July, which reduced fishing effort and catches, August has started very well with a good number of fish caught last week; a mixture of larger, coloured MSW fish, and some lovely silver grilse.
We are now up to at least 16 salmon and grilse for the season – we await confirmation of details of some catches. Congratulations to David Allfrey on his 3 fish last week, and Richard Bellamy who got a couple of fresh grilse on a short visit on Friday. Good reward for the work that they have both done for the Club this season. There have been other successes for a number of rods including a couple of our rental syndicate members.
There appears to have been a decent run of larger salmon in May and June, and now a good number of grilse. Hopefully this will continue!
